# The Verified Provider badge

Some providers in this directory are marked **Verified**. This page explains exactly what that word means here, and how a verified provider can display the badge on their own website.

## What "Verified" means

A provider is marked Verified when we've confirmed two things against the provider's own published information: that they genuinely handle horses, large animals, or livestock (not only small pets), and that the contact details we list (phone, address, website) match what the provider publishes. We re-check listings periodically.

That's the entire claim. We don't rank providers, and we don't name anyone "best." We haven't compared quality of service, and we won't pretend otherwise.

## Verification is free and can't be bought

No provider has ever paid to be verified, and no payment of any kind can create, speed up, or remove a verification. If this directory ever offers paid placement, it will be labeled as such and will have no effect on who is verified.

## For providers: embedding the badge

If your business is listed here as verified, you're welcome to display the badge on your own site, free, with no conditions. The easiest way: open your own listing page (find your business in the directory) and scroll to the bottom. Verified listings show this same snippet with your listing's address already filled in, ready to copy. Otherwise, copy the snippet below and replace `YOUR-LISTING` with the address of your listing page.

```
<a href="https://horsecremationdirectory.com/provider/YOUR-LISTING/">
  <img src="https://horsecremationdirectory.com/badge/verified-2026.svg"
       alt="Verified large-animal cremation provider · Horse Cremation Directory"
       width="303" height="50" loading="lazy">
</a>
```

The badge links to your listing, so your visitors can see the verified details for themselves.

## How to add it to your site

The snippet is ordinary HTML: one image and one link. Wherever you paste it, the badge appears there.

- **WordPress:** edit the page (or footer widget) where you want the badge, add a _Custom HTML_ block, and paste the snippet into it.
- **Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, Weebly, and similar builders:** add an _Embed_, _Embed HTML_, or _Code_ element where you want the badge and paste the snippet into it.
- **Someone else manages your site:** send them the snippet and ask them to add it to your homepage or footer. It's a two-minute job.

Most providers put it in the footer or near their contact details. If the snippet doesn't work on your site, or anything in your listing is out of date, reply to any email you've received from us and we'll sort it out promptly. You can read how the directory is compiled on the [about page](/about).
