# Horse cremation prices by state Most horse crematories quote by phone, so real prices are hard to find before you're already making the call. This page collects the exceptions: providers listed in this directory that publish their large-animal cremation prices on their own websites. Every figure below was read directly from the provider's published page when we verified the listing, and every price on this page was re-checked against the provider's live site in mid-July 2026. Nothing here is an estimate or a survey average. Two caveats before the numbers. First, prices change and depend on your horse's actual weight, so always confirm directly with the provider. Second, a state missing from this list almost never means no provider serves it. It means the providers there quote by phone instead of publishing prices. Browse the [horse & equine cremation](/equine-cremation) listings to find providers in any state, and see the [cost guide](/horse-cremation-cost) for what drives the price. ## What the prices below tell you - **Private (individual) cremation of a full-size horse** mostly lands between about $1,000 and $1,800 among these providers. - **Per-pound pricing** ranges from $0.80 to $1.75 per pound here, so a 1,000-pound horse can run from several hundred dollars to $1,750 or more. - **Communal or group cremation** (ashes generally not returned) runs roughly $350 to $900 where it's published, depending on the horse's size. - **Pickup and transport are almost always separate.** See [horse removal and transport](/horse-removal-and-transport) for how that part is priced. ## Alabama [Alabama Pet Cremation](/provider/alabama-pet-cremation-equine-services) (Centreville, serving the Birmingham area) publishes whole-horse pricing: private cremation at $1,000 for adult horses (801 to 1,800 lbs) or $600 for miniature horses and ponies, with ashes returned in a complimentary urn. Communal cremation is $600 for adults, $450 for minis, with no ashes returned. Removal is included within 50 miles of Birmingham, then $1.50 per mile. ## Colorado [Precious Memories Pet Cemetery & Crematory](/provider/precious-memories-pet-cemetery-and-crematory) (Fort Collins) publishes a horse partial cremation (head, heart, and hooves) at $450, and prices animals over 125 lbs at $1.75 per pound for private cremation, which puts a 1,000-pound horse around $1,750. ## Illinois [Saint Francis Pet Cremation](/provider/saint-francis-pet-cremation-large-animal) (Wood Dale) publishes individual equine cremation at $0.85 per pound, one of the lowest per-pound rates in the directory, so a 1,000-pound horse is around $850. Ash-return containers are priced separately (from a $50 basic return to a $225 wooden urn), and transport is handled by a separate livestock hauler for its own fee. [Family's Pet Cremation](/provider/family-s-pet-cremation) (Arlington Heights, serving Illinois and Wisconsin) now publishes its cremation rates as well as transport: private cremation is $1.00 per pound with ashes back in 48 to 72 hours (keepsake urn, certificate, clay hoof print, and tail clipping included), communal is $0.80 per pound, and transport is a $400 base within 20 miles plus $2 per mile after, with $100 more for stall removal. They note the quote can shift with verified weight (they figure an average horse at roughly 1,100 lbs) and difficulty of retrieval. ## Indiana [Homeward Bound Pet Memorial Care](/provider/homeward-bound-pet-memorial-care) (Indianapolis) publishes an equine and large-animal package priced by weight tier, from $550 (under 300 lbs) to $1,550 (over 1,000 lbs), including pick-up equipment, cremation, and a certificate. Pickup adds $50, plus $2.75 per mile beyond 30 miles. The published page doesn't state whether the cremation is private or communal, so ask before booking. ## Minnesota [Prairie Wind Pet & Equine Cremation](/provider/prairie-wind-pet-and-equine-cremation) (Luverne) publishes weight-tiered pricing from $460 (300 to 500 lbs) to $1,380 (1,501 to 1,700 lbs) with ashes returned within 6 to 10 days, and handles horses over 1,700 lbs by quote. Choosing no ash return (cremains scattered in their memorial pasture) takes $100 off. Transfer from home or a vet clinic is $2.50 per mile round trip. ## New York [Cornell University's HydroCremation service](/provider/cornell-university-hydrocremation-aquamation-equine-large-an) (Ithaca) publishes a full price list for equine aquamation, a water-based alternative to flame cremation: $1,200 individual or $350 group for a 501-to-1,000-pound horse, $1,800 or $500 for 1,001 to 1,500 lbs, and $2,300 or $700 for animals over 1,500 lbs (January 2026 price list). It's open to the public, not just Cornell clients. Removal and transport by private trailer is available in the Aiken area. ## Utah The [Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory](/provider/utah-veterinary-diagnostic-laboratory-usu-large-animal-crema) (Utah State University, Logan) publishes the simplest formula in the directory: $100 base plus $1.75 per pound, individual cremation with ashes released to the owner, so a 1,000-pound horse is about $1,850. Large animals require a $500 down payment and are handled at the Logan facility. ## Virginia [Jones Funeral Home's Paws & Remember](/provider/jones-funeral-home-paws-and-remember-equine-and-large-animal) (Winchester and Stephens City) publishes equine and large-animal cremation at a flat $1,200, individual with ashes returned. Equine pickup is $200, plus $3 per mile beyond a 100-mile radius, and an optional wood equine urn is $375. ## Wisconsin Wisconsin is served by [Family's Pet Cremation](/provider/family-s-pet-cremation) out of Arlington Heights, Illinois; see the Illinois entry above for its published per-pound cremation and transport pricing. ## Reading these prices fairly Publishing a price is a sign of a provider comfortable being compared, but it isn't a quality ranking, and a phone-quote provider near you may well be the better choice once transport is counted.
